Offline SMPS
A type of Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS) that combines the basic function of power regulation with the isolation function otherwise performed by a larger line-frequency transformer. Offline supplies trade some efficiency and increased complexity for significant savings in weight. See Switch Mode Power Supply.
Open Circuit Voltage
The no load voltage of a battery that is neither on charge nor on discharge (i.e., disconnected from a circuit).
Overcharge
Forcing current into a fully charged battery. Some overcharge can be beneficial to increase capacity and discharge time at the cost of reduced cycle life. The battery can be damaged if overcharged for a long period.
